    lol @ BM

Genuinely? The most idiotic reasons. Peer pressure, and socialising.

I had my first cigarette when I was 13, because 'everyone else did it'. I smoked 'because everyone else did it' until I was 14. When I was 17, I started smoking again, as I lived in a house that was a wee bit stressful, and 'everyone else did it'. I smoked on and off until 19, when I started smoking 'full time' when I was doing yard work. Partially because everyone else did, partially because it did actually, somehow, allow me to chill (possibly because of the sporadic five minute breaks throughout the day that smoking afforded you, as well as the chemical release of whatever crud they put in cigarettes these days)

I quit when I was 21, and met my now-fiance. He didn't smoke, and had already hinted at his distaste for smokers. I thought he was too good a chance to miss out on for something as stupid as smoking, so I quit the day of our first date. Have felt the urge maybe once or twice since, but have always easily outweighed the meagre pros with everything else against it :)

I thought so! I don't see the point in it honestly. I can understand the social side of it, but I don't feel as though I'm losing out because I don't smoke, never have :P
Thanks for answering and well done on quitting! I know how hard people make it out to be :p

when i was out i'd have a cig, then it was when i was hungover, then i started my placement at uni and i'd have one while waiting on the bus....then i finished uni and i started having them during work. Not good, it escalates very slyly into your routine.

    But its done now :)

Never started smoking. In fact, never even tried it - not once. Pretty unique in that respect I think!

Sparky - I'll see your server alert at 1:24 and raise you a SAN disk failure at 03:12 :biggrin

Woken up again! Another server has gone belly up, some kinda Oracle issue I think. Had to call the DBA and get him to take a look as the disk space is getting eaten up for some reason.

Gonna be a long day on Friday, coffee anyone? :gmorning

This is by no means an exhaustive list, I think I might be becoming a misanthrope.

People who say “I think you’ll find” in a smug tone.

Drivers who don’t thank you when you let them go at traffic calming or passing places.

The man in my office who punctuates his sentences with loud and prolonged “Ermms” when he says something he considers funny.

    Primark

Managers who use business babble like “Think outside the box” and Touch base”

People and especially children who kick the back of my chair while at the cinema, on aircraft etc.

People who claim to have read a book when they have not.

People who say, “I’m terrible at maths” with a sort of misplaced pride.

The length of TV commercials on Sky and especially Personal Injury compensation adverts

The boy who wants to “Poo at Pauls”

People who use the noun Google as a verb

    That was a cathartic experience.

I just thought I'd double check the times of my 294 exam next Thursday and saw that I should of sat 298 2 days ago!!!! Or rather I should of moved it forward yet again!!! Mixture of gutted and fuming. Don't suppose there's any way I can get that back is there? It was booked on my previous employers credit card so I've got no chance. So to sum up PROMETRIC ANNOYS ME even if it was my fault. Their website is *****. Fumin

And... that's why I don't schedule my exams until I'm ready to take them. ;)

For the record, VUE has the same policy, so don't be mad at Prometric. Just sayin. :)

Each person is different! I wouldn't be able to do that as I would never feel 'ready'. I find it better working towards a deadline, helps me try to make sure I know as much as possible.. and means I actually do it :p

Yes, each person IS different... I'm just saying that you won't have a problem forgetting what exams you've scheduled if you schedule them as you're about to take them. The other way completely sets you up for missing your exam, as evidenced by the number of people I've heard this exact thing happening to.

Hey, if you want to risk what JUST happened to JK, then go for it - it's your money. But you can work towards a deadline without scheduling an exam.
