Not achived any goals set for this year been so up and down .

2010 is going to have some big changes and goals.

On the career front:

Have to nuckle down and complete A+ by April, N+ by July.
And look into starting some MS or LINUX certs.
Get back on track with learning C++ and Autocad.
Have to keep looking for any work that i can get it related to give me as much experiance as possible.
finish building my gaming desktop,


On the personal front:

Resolve my relationship issues with my Girlfriend,
pay off outstanding debts,
sort my car out before it dies,

Going to be a BUSY year, hope you all achieve your goals,

Last Years Goals

Get a new Job ASAP
Learn to drive
Settle into new pad
take my cycling more seriously, new kit and further distances
Stay fit, stop smoking, drink less, eat healthier
Improve my web design skills, maybe do some websites for free towards the end of the year
Complete the 70-270, maybe towards the end of the year depending on my employment situation, I found the Network+ hard, no more hardware stuff for a while, until I'm working in it!

Nearly passed my driving test, completed my 70-270, no new job but thats me just being lazy. Quit smoking, drinking less and I've lost over a stone in weight (from where I don't know!)

Goals for this year;

Learn Sipxecs inside out and replace all our asterisk installs(fun stuff)
Get a car
Move house
Be a better Dad
Win7 Cert
2003 Cert if it still available when I get around to it

 

Well, quite a year I feel - what have I done:

Pass Net+ by January (assuming I haven't done it in 200 - Done in July 2009
Pass 70-270 in Q1, preferably end of January. Not quite, but studying now!
Pass 70-290 by end of the year. hmmm, afraid not

Start, finish with top marks in 3 OU courses - all starting in January, finishing in September. Only did 2 courses and got 95%+ in both
Starting (if they start then) a 4th course in October. Change of mind/plans, only focused on the above 2

Keep applying for jobs, but be selective in which industries I jump into due to the economy. Applied for 1 job all year, right at the end, internal move in the end, but to system administrator role (2nd/3rd line)
Keep saving like crazy for a place to buy in a year or 2. Done - when not spending 2 weeks in Dominican Republic
Keep running - just for fitness, and hopefully loose weight in the meanwhile! Managed this 10% of the time!

In addition, I've also become a MBCS and have moved to a nice 2-bed flat with a great garden!

Work
Enjoy my last few months in my new role, extracting as much as possible from it.
To be cheerful whilst I'm in a job I no longer want to be
Start my new role, and learn as much as possible from it!

Outside Work
Get involved with my local BCS group, and see where that takes me (ie, I'm just not looking at turning up, but getting involved.)
Loose 2 stone in weight (currently 13st13 - 195lb)
Running - to help loose the weight
Enjoy my new flat and garden especially in the summer!
Work at making my relationship with my girlfriend work better.

Play hard, mmmm, does beating my 5 year old at monopoly count (She's down by 25 bags of sand, going to have to call in the heavies if the she don't come good with the bee's)

Last year's goals were as follows:-

Finish MCDST - DONE
Obtain MCTS: Vista - DONE
Work towards MCSA - DONE
Get a slightly better paid job / a pay-rise - DONE
Do more working out with weights - MEH

Additional things I didn't expect to achieve in 2K9:-

Promotion to Systems Administrator - Thankfully a case of right company, right place, right time.
Obtained MCSA - I had to work my ass off but I got it! Yay.
Achieved Professional Membership with the BCS - Post-nomials rock.

Goals for 2010 are as follows:-

Obtain MCSE by April - Work are really pushing for this...
Obtain a decent payrise (linked to above)
Get more managerial experience
Clear car loan
Do more working out with weights and not quit halfway

Think that's the lot. It's going to be a fun year...

I won't mention last years goals as only 2-3 actually got done. Lets hope this year is a more productive one.

• Get a house Done... well flat anyway
• Get involved with my local BCS branch Yeah... no time, and no money to continue my membership
• New job Working on it, holidays have slowed the process somewhat
• MCDST Passed 70-271 today, hoping to get 70-272 done a hell of a lot faster!
• MCSA Yeah... no hope
• a.n.other course/cert of some description, haven't decided what yet. Again, the DST has taken me a stupidly long time so this will have to wait
• Get to grips with Java Bailed on this one, development is definitely not my thing so I'll leave it to the pros!
• rebuild 2 websites Rebuilt the ladies team site only to have the guy who owns the domain decide to stop paying for it My site hase undergone a couple of redesigns but I've completely failed to up the amount of content I'm generating

So my own skills in procrastination and ****e time management have really been shown off this year... think my 2011 goals will be a)simpler b)more achievable and I'm going to do a far better job of keeping my motivation up by setting some due by dates.

 

I haven't done very well on my list, but there's still 3 1/2 months left.
